I provide a supportive space where you can begin to process the weight of depression in your life. Through the gentle release of tension in your body, the opening of your breath, and the regulation of your nervous system, you can start to rediscover energy, presence, and a sense of inner calm.

 

 

One Breath at a Time

When grappling with feelings of low energy, a lack of motivation, or a sense of being trapped, it can be challenging to feel connected to your body and the present moment. Thoughts may become repetitive and negative, creating a downward spiral. We can work together to gently re-establish that connection to your physical self and allow for the release of held-back emotions, creating space for movement and renewed vitality.

 

 

 

 

Depression in Our Body and Mind

Depression can affect us deeply on a physical, mental, and emotional level. It can feel like a profound depletion of energy and resources, where your body operates on a minimal level to keep going. This state can often be linked to an imbalance in the nervous system, potentially stemming from prolonged periods of stress where the body has used up its reserves. This can manifest as persistent low energy, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep and appetite, a sense of emptiness, and feelings of self-blame or guilt.

Reconnecting with Your Body and Emotions

When experiencing depression, there's often a sense of being disconnected from your body and underlying emotions, with thoughts frequently focused on negative views of the future or feelings of guilt about the past. Body-centered therapy can help you gently return to these sensations. Depression can sometimes involve the suppression of emotional responses to challenging life circumstances, past experiences, or ongoing stress. By working with the body and breath, we can create a pathway to safely reconnect with these held-back feelings.

Restoring Energy and Vitality

Through the methods I use, the aim is to gently restore balance to your nervous system and free your breath. Your breath is intimately connected to how you process and express your emotions. As your breathing becomes more open and relaxed, it can also create space for suppressed feelings to surface and be acknowledged. This process can help you to feel more grounded and connected to yourself again, allowing for a renewed sense of energy and the positive feelings that may be obscured by the depressive state.
